At Rouba G, we are committed to sourcing materials ethically and sustainably. One of the key fabrics that we use in our designs is silk, which is known for its luxurious feel and elegant drape. However, not all silk is created equal, and the process of manufacturing silk can often be exploitative and harmful to both the environment and the workers involved.

That's why we source our silk from ethical producers in India, who prioritize sustainable and responsible manufacturing practices. These primary source producers specialize in various types of silk, including 100% silk, noil, and mulberry textiles.

One of the unique materials that we use at Rouba G, is handwoven Muga silk, which is sourced and assembled in India by rural communities. This golden silk is produced by the strong silk fibers made from the silkworm Antheraea assamensis found in the Assam state in India. The process of producing Muga silk is highly sustainable, as the silkworms are not harmed in the process, and the fibers are extracted after the moths have naturally emerged from their cocoons.

Another type of silk that we use is Eri silk, also known as Peace silk. This is the silk produced from the silkworm species called Philosamia ricini, which feeds on castor oil plant leaves. The yarns are sourced from Assam India and handwoven in Jharkhand India. Eri silk is highly sustainable and ethical, as the silkworms are allowed to complete their natural life cycle and emerge from their cocoons, rather than being killed in the process.

In addition to these unique silk materials, Rouba G also uses 100% lurex wool and exclusive honeycomb-patterned silk for embroidery, sourced from ethical and sustainable producers.
